1. What the app does

Bible for Hope by VAL is a Christian Bible and prayer app. It offers offline Bible reading, notes, bookmarks, prayer reminders, optional Google sign-in, rewarded ads, subscriptions, and Hope AI chat for Bible-based encouragement.

2. Information we collect

Depending on which features you use, we may handle the following categories of information:

• Account and identity data: if you sign in with Google, the app uses your Google account identifier and Google ID token to verify your session. If you use guest mode, the app may use a device-derived guest identifier to maintain backend sessions and usage limits.
• Local app data: notes, bookmarks, highlights, reading history, prayer entries, reminder settings, appearance settings, and local AI history are stored on your device.
• Hope AI request data: when you use Hope AI, your request text and locale are sent through our backend to generate a response. Backend systems store usage metadata such as token counts, model name, cost, quota usage, reward credits, and blocked-reason flags. Standard AI request text is processed to answer your request and is not stored in the backend chat usage table as full conversation text.
• Support and report data: if you submit an AI concern report or contact support, the report content, notes, and related diagnostic details may be logged or retained for review.
• Ads, rewards, billing, and anti-abuse data: Google AdMob, Google Play Billing, Google Sign-In, and Play Integrity may process ad identifiers, reward verification data, purchase tokens, product IDs, app/device integrity signals, and related fraud-prevention or diagnostics data.
• Technical and security data: our backend may record IP address, request timing, endpoint access, authentication outcomes, and rate-limit/security events to keep the service available and secure.

3. How we use information

• Provide Bible reading, local personalization, and reminder features.
• Authenticate users and restore sessions across app launches.
• Generate Hope AI responses and enforce monthly or rewarded-chat limits.
• Verify ad rewards, subscriptions, and anti-abuse signals.
• Operate premium access, billing entitlement sync, and app security controls.
• Investigate reports, fix issues, and improve app reliability.

4. Third-party services

The app relies on third-party providers for some features:

• Google Sign-In / Credential Manager for optional Google authentication.
• Google Play Billing for subscriptions and purchase verification.
• Google Play Integrity for anti-abuse and app integrity checks on protected AI features.
• Google AdMob for banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads, including server-side reward verification.
• OpenAI for Hope AI response generation when online AI mode is used.

These services process data under their own terms and privacy policies.

5. Storage and retention

• Most reading and personalization data stays on your device unless you use connected features.
• Exported user-data files are encrypted with your passphrase.
• Backend account, usage, subscription, and reward records may be retained as needed to run the service, prevent abuse, and support billing and quota enforcement.
• If you uninstall the app, on-device data is removed unless you exported it separately.

6. Your choices

• You can use the app as a guest or sign in with Google.
• You can disable reminders and choose whether to use internet-dependent features.
• You can sign out, clear app data from your device, and use encrypted export/import tools for local backup or transfer.
